With a brief that called for the creation of a retreat style, sustainable, coastal development of a luxury duplex on a narrow block, this project is an example of a holistic design approach, where architecture, interior design and landscape respond to a well-considered environment and site analysis.
Especial attention has been placed on capturing the amazing ocean views from the site, while providing privacy to the occupants and neighbours alike.
A modern approach to Australian coastal architecture gives birth to these two homes that make clever use of curved masonry walls and natural timber finishes, blending into the landscape while standing out beautifully. A well-considered layout over three storeys plus a roof-top terrace creates plenty of opportunities for common and private spaces within each home. Closeness to the environment and secluded private spaces are equally valued and achieved.
The interiors are designed to express and carry out the architectural language throughout, with emphasis on functionality, pragmatism and craftsmanship.
